Icon Studios - //Model Preparation
HAIR:
• No re growth or dry damaged ends
• Hair should be shampooed and conditioned
NAILS:
• Natural nails - manicured and painted, all the same length , no chipped polish
• Artificial nails - absolutely no re growth or chunky nails ,must be a new set or a new backfill (nothing looks worse in print than 3 week old artificial nails)
TOES & FEET:
• Toes must be freshly painted and feet must be clean and well groomed as they are on display during your shoot
FACE:
• Exfoliate and moisturize face the night before photoshoot
• Absolutely NO lip hair.
• Eyebrows must be shaped and tidy
BODY SKIN & TANNING:
• Full body scrub to remove old patchy tans and dry, dull skin
• Even all over tan either spray tan or solarium (there are a few models with perfect porcelain skin that may be an exception to this rule , please discuss with photographer or stylist)
• Bruises, scars and scratches (and worse yet tatoo’s) damage and wreck the your body, so BE CAREFUL. Although some things can be taken off in Photoshop
• Always arrive to photoshoot freshly showered.
BIKINI LINE:
• Clean wax or shave, if you are prone to red marks (a little tip to minimize marks is at least one week prior, use a strong scrub (arpre facial scrub from supermarket is a good one) using it dry before you hop into shower rub over bikini area rinse off , when dry dab tea tree oil only onto spots
• If posing nude, please leave a some hair , the reason for this. You do not have to show as much with leaving some there if you have seen a lot of artistic nude images. You will know what I am talking about, if not ask
CLOTHING & ACCESSORIES:
• Bathrobe to wear inbetween photos) especially for lingerie or nude shots
• Several outfit changes, appropriate lingerie/underwear, high heels (not platform), comfortable shoes (for comfort between photo sets)
If you are posing in a revealing manner (glamour or nude) wear loose fitted clothing as tight clothing (socks and underwear which are too tight) leave pressure marks on the skin, which can take up to an hour to go away
If you are testing or doing portfolio work, practice your posing and also different facial expressions on a regular basis. Also pick a variety of clothing which enhances your figure. Avoid anything to busy looking (patterns etc). These lead the viewers eye away from you. Simple and classic is always best
